You have to choose the “Chieti” station in the schedule search.
Several types of trains are available in Italy: ES (EuroStar) fast train, expensive but comfortable; IC (InterCity) medium class train, cheaper than the EuroStar but slower; IR (Interregionali) and R (Regionali) are local, cheap, basic and slow train. To travel on a EuroStar and IC trains you need to have a reserved seat. You can reserve the seat and pay for the ticket at the station ticket office, or by internet (http://www.trenitalia.com/tcom-en). Remember also to pinch your ticket in the yellow machine before to get on the IR/R trains.
By bus
There is a convenient bus connection between Rome and Chieti Scalo station served by multiple companies.

You can buy tickets at ‘Tabacchi’ (tobacconist’s shop) and newsstands in the train station. They must be purchased before you get on the bus, then validated in the yellow machine once on board.
