AIRPORTS

Milano Malpensa (MXP) 

Milano Malpensa is located 48 km (30 miles) northwest of Milano and is the main hub for Northern Italy, handling transcontinental and international flights.

How to reach San Raffaele University by public transport:

– a shuttle bus service links Malpensa Airport to Cascina Gobba Subway Station. The trip takes about 1 hour, depending on the traffic. For more information, please visit http://www.malpensashuttle.it – Section Time Table – Itinerary Malpensa T1-T2/Linate.

At Cascina Gobba, you can find the 925 bus or you can follow the directions to the San Raffaele shuttle train (1,30 euros return ticket). Both kinds of tickets can be purchased at any vending machine in subway stations.

Milano Linate (LIN) 

Milano Linate is located 7 km (4 miles) east of the Centre and it is easily connected with the city.

How to reach San Raffaele University by public transport:

– a shuttle bus service links Linate Airport to Cascina Gobba Subway Station. The trip takes about 10 minutes, depending on the traffc. For more information, please visit http://www.malpensashuttle.it – Section Time Table – Itinerary Linate/Malpensa T1-T2.

At Cascina Gobba, you can find the 925 bus or you can follow the directions to the San Raffaele shuttle train (1,30 euros return ticket). Both kinds of tickets can be purchased at any vending machine in subway stations.

Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY) 

Orio al Serio is located 45 km (28 miles) northeast of Milano and handles domestic and international fights, most of them operated by low-cost carriers.

How to reach San Raffaele University by public transport:

– a shuttle bus service links Orio al Serio Airport to Milano Railway Central Station. The trip takes about 1 hour, depending on the traffc. For more information, please visit the following web site: http://www.orioshuttle.com.

The subway green line M2 links the Central Station to Cascina Gobba Subway Station, where you can find the 925 bus (you can use the same ticket you used to get to Cascina Gobba) or you can follow the directions to the San Raffaele shuttle train, for which you need a further ticket (it’s a return ticket; 1,30 euros). Both kinds of tickets can be purchased at any vending machine in subway stations.

RAILWAYS

The main station is Stazione Centrale (Central Station) which has high-speed links to other major cities in Italy. Other important Railway Stations are: Cadorna, Lambrate, Porta Garibaldi.

How to reach San Raffaele University by public transport:

– the subway green line M2 links all the above mentioned Railway Stations to Cascina Gobba Subway Station.

At Cascina Gobba, you can find the 925 bus (you can use the same ticket you used to get to Cascina Gobba) or you can follow the directions to San Raffaele Shuttle train, for which you need a further ticket (it’s a return ticket; 1,30 euros). Both kinds of tickets can be purchased at any vending machine in subway stations.

MOTORWAYS

Milano is linked to other European countries by toll motorways. San Raffaele University can be reached by all motorways, following the direction “Tangenziale Est” to “Cascina Gobba”.

CITY PUBLIC TRANSPORTS

The easiest way to reach San Raffaele University is to get to Cascina Gobba subway station (M2 green line) and from there:

–  either catch the shuttle train by purchasing a return ticket (1,30 euros; available at any vending machine in subway stations)

–  or catch the 925 bus to Milano 2 – San Raffaele and jump off at the stop outside the DIBIT building, in via Olgettina 58. You can reuse the one way ticket that you used for the subway.

Both kinds of tickets can be purchased at any vending machine in subway stations.

Please, keep in mind that, from the 15th of July, the Milan transport system is applying a raise of the ticket fares: on average, a ticket to travel by metro trains, buses and trams will cost 2 euros. You can find all the relevant info right here: https://www.atm.it/en/Pages/default.aspx

Here you can find a list of suitable accomodations. Please, notice that San Raffaele University is not in Milan city center, and thus it is advisable to find accomodations close to the green line (M2) of Milan subway (not all of those listed below are).
